Did you know that Voyageurs National Park recently received a White House Proclamation for Initiative in Kids in Parks honoring National Park Week? The Kids in Parks program started in April 2008 as a Grand Prize for the Annual Youth Art Contest. The program introduces a family to Voyageurs National Park during a weekend stay in the park. The winning child and family spent time learning about the jobs of a Park Ranger and a Park Naturalist as well as exploring the park on the tour boat and by trail. Come and meet the family, see a presentation of their stay, and view the winning artwork. Park Naturalist Melissa Dahl will be giving the presentation with assistance from this year?s winning child. Evening programs are offered every Friday night during the summer at the historic Woodenfrog State Forest Campground Refectory near Lake Kabetogama from 7:00 ? 8:00 pm. Programs are sponsored by the Friends of Voyageurs National Park. No fee or registration is required to attend. Visit www.nps.gov/voya for more information, or contact Kabetogama Lake Visitor Center at 218- 875- 2111 or Rainy Lake Visitor Center at 218- 286- 5258 for more information.
